The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever

Lights Out And Dance is proud to present to the Gold Coast, the global phenomenon that is THE MOST WUTHERING HEIGHTS DAY EVER!

After a two-year hiatus, it’s time to dust off your red dress and warm up our backward pterodactyl as The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever will return to the outdoor stage of HOTA, Home of the Arts, 9am – 12pm on the 23rd July 2022.

The MWHDE is a joyous day of dance and fun for everyone. It’s about connection, community and getting together with friends and strangers and taking part in a truly unique and fun global movement while raising funds for a charity supporting women, children and pet’s in a domestic violence refuge. We think donning red dresses and recreating this iconic dance has its own unique spiritual, healing, and magical elements!

We have set a very ambitious goal for this year’s wuthering: to raise $2000 and get 200 Cathy’s dancing in support of The Sanctuary Women, Children and Pet’s Refuge right here on the Gold Coast.

The Sanctuary is a self-funded refuge providing a safe haven for women and children fleeing a life of domestic violence, and at The Sanctuary, they can bring their pets!!

100% of profits from our event are donated directly to The Sanctuary and the impact is both immediate and direct.

The Sanctuary’s mission is to provide refuge, safety, comfort, nutrition, and case management counselling for women and children to help repair the trauma associated with domestic violence.

Sadly, since its doors opened in 2016, The Sanctuary has been at full capacity. For a service that is so vital, we are astounded that it receives ZERO local, State, or Federal funding, so any support our wuthering tribe provides is greatly needed and appreciated.

May marks the start of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (DFVP Month), and the theme for this year is ‘All of us, together’.

With 1 in 6 women in Australia experiencing domestic and family violence and a woman losing her life at the rate of one woman a week at the hands of her partner, our support for The Sanctuary Refuge is needed now more than ever.

Book your tickets now for the MWHDE and help us achieve our goal to raise $2000 and get 200 Cathy’s dancing. Don’t forget to share the event with your friends, family, and colleagues and encourage everyone to get along for a wutherly wonderful morning of wuthering and support this incredible organisation.

We are confident that all of us together as a wuthering family, we can achieve these ambitious fundraising and wuthering goals, so please do book, donate and contribute and help us achieve our fundraising goal to support a refuge right here on the Gold Coast which receives ZERO Government funding for such a critical service to women, children and pets fleeing a life of violence.

The MWHDE Gold Coast acknowledges British theatrical group Shambush, the creators of the theatrical concept The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience and Samantha Wareing who, with permission from Shambush created The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.

Since 2016, more than 10,000 ‘Cathys’ across more than 70 cities worldwide have taken part in mass wuthering’s, which has seen events hosting more than 2000 people at any given time!

Use the hashtags #mwhde22 #mwhdegc22 on your Instagram photos on the day. Looking forward to seeing as many Kate’s as wutheringly possible.

See you there Cathys!
